Woke up today without a headache for the first time in two days, which was fab. Managed to make real headway with dissertation -- only about 10-odd pages I need to write up AND IT WILL BE DONE. Plenty of time to finish on Sat and Sun.
By that time headache was coming back, so I called it a day and got to reading some Stuff. Which is how I stumbled upon this gem of a story:
Forever Would Be Just Before the Dawn by
queenklu. IT IS THE 1.23 CODA OF MY HEART. It deals with all the issues beautifully, and has a wonderfully neurotic Steve that--I won't mince words here, there were tears. SO MANY TEARS. /sob/ IT WAS GLORIOUS.
Anyway. Now I desperately want to write a Mills & Boon related story... BECAUSE I AM A SAP LIKE THAT, YES, I KNOW. /mops eyes/ This may or may not remind people of last week's events (that's the reason I remembered it, so it probably will). See, a while back (and I mean like 15 years back, I WAS YOUNG, OKAY) I read this boosabout fifty times -- I have absolutely NO idea what it was called, but god help me, I re-re-re-re-read that thing until it was falling apart. Long story short, there was this blonde lady, very sweet yet sassy (naturally), who worked at a US embassy somewhere abroad. Suddenly, terrorists! Out of nowhere!! Anyway, they get taken hostage, and a SEAL team is dispatched to rescue them (yes, I know, I KNOW, I am A GOOF, this is not news).
So this SEAL operative, I can't remember his name (nor hers either, as it happens), who is the leader of the team, spends two days staking the place, only he can't quite look away from this resourceful woman who dyes her hair black and manufactures a moustache so the terrorists won't recognise that she is a woman. This is kind of irrelevant here; all you need to know is that the guy is intrigued. And when the hostages get rescued, and have to separate so the SEAL team can smuggle them out of the country, our guy takes our gal. There are stolen planes; he cuts his sandals so they'll fit her sore feet; she kicks him for it, then refuses to leave the country without him...
...I'm sure you can see where I'm going with this. Now replace blonde lady with one Danny Williams, and Big Bad SEAL Commander with... er. Another Big Bad SEAL Commander, and hey presto! MAGIC.
I don't even know, I really don't. I mean, IT'S RIDICULOUS, OKAY, I KNOW IT'S RIDICULOUS. D: Don't mean I don't WANT IT WITH THE FIRE OF A THOUSAND SUNS. /0\
