So, the sn_exchange. Right now, I am :DDD but, also, a little DDD:
So. The
sn_exchange is coming to an end. I never realised just how attached to this bi-annual glomp!fest I had gotten. The quality of submissions has always been above and beyond, and in the two rounds I have participated it has pushed my writing boundaries to new heights. I would never have taken the plunge into writing the things that I have otherwise, and that would have been A HUGE LOSS.
So yes. Much sadness. Having said that, I can kinda understand the poor mods. I can only imagine just how much work goes into matching the participants to each other, then have to deal with moaning, extensions and even drop-outs after all their hard work of trying to find the perfect match to each participant. I bet there has been much frustration in each round. I confess that I had kinda hoped that the outcome might win out over the hassle, but I do sympathise. I think that if any of us ever decides to make a similar comm (I must confess I am tempted, because I will sorely miss this exchange), a much more rigid set of rules will have to be deployed. I have in fact given this A LOT OF THOUGHT recently, and I was even prepared to send the lovely, brilliant mods a little feedback in the hope that it might make their jobs easier.
Just. THANK YOU GUYS, WHOEVER YOU ARE. YOU HAVE MADE MANY, MANY PEOPLE SO INCREDIBLY HAPPY OVER THE PAST TWO YEARS. YOU ROCK MY SOCKS.
THE SN_E REVEALS, YOU GUYS!! Yes, 'twas me who wrote All things of greatest value hang on slender strings for
kiterie, and Advantage: Us for
syrraki, and received the gorgeous Home Again by
metal_hybrid. I have to say, time and time again I experience the paradox of pouring every spare minute, including the entirety of my brain and heart into a fic, and have it come second to something that poured out of me in four days flat (and contained all of my heart and soul, incidentally). It's a very interesting phenomenon. OH, AND SARAH TREE LIKED HER GIFT!!! /victory dance
Also,
hanakage wrote Scores, Settled, quite possibly my favourite fic of the exchange (so far, I still have about fifteen to make my way through)!! SO EXCITING!!! Oh, and turns out it was
ezyls_girl who broke my heart several times over with Lack the luster. /sob
All in all, it all ends with a bang, I guess. For some strange reason this doesn't make me any happier.
Despite, or maybe because of all this, this week has been fucking insane, which is only to be expected, what with my little sister's wedding in six days. My life =/= my own right now.
On the plus side
1. I picked up my bridesmaid dress, which is all kinds of gorgeous. I don't as a rule do dresses, but good god -- I didn't want to take it off, it is that beautiful. I'll definitely be wearing it even after the wedding. HOW MANY BRIDESMAID DRESSES CAN YOU SAY THAT ABOUT, EH??
2. My sister finally passed her last exam and is now officially an MD.
3. I am going to be an auntie in six months! Fuck, I hope the wedding dress still fits, she's been eating like Naruto eats ramen ever since she found out.
4. Birthday! Thank you, gorgeous people, for the lovely wishes!
5.
eames_arthur has been keeping me sane. The stuff it churns out... If I was to make a rec list, it would probably exceed the posting limit.
6. I now have no less than three complete fest fics that I've yet to post on my lj. I really should get onto that. Apologies for upcoming spamming, flist!
7. I have pre-ordered this delicious goodie with what was left of my birthday cash rake-in. You guys. That briefcase. Holy cow. /fans self I GET TO SEE EAMES AND ARTHUR IN BREATHTAKING BLURAY HD RESOLUTION. I THINK THIS WARRANTS THE CAPSLOCK FLAIL OF DOOM.
On the not-so-plus side
1. Fucking Facebook crossover. Enough said. LJ, I don't get you. Why tinker with it if it ain't broken?? /huffs
2. My whole body hurts from decorations shopping and planting roses (which are so damn pretty that I didn't mind after all).
3. Wedding guests start arriving tomorrow. I am kissing my sanity goodbye for the next seven days.
4.
inception_kink. I have succumbed to the temptation of the dark side and have bookmarked approximately ten prompts. Ffffuuuuck. My life cannot keep up with this shit! D8
5. We still have our Big Bang to finish, and me and
prettypriestess REALLY should get onto that -- about three weeks to go until the submission deadline. I'ma start editing while I wait for Priestess to get a break from RL -- uni must be kicking ass and taking names.
6. Terry Pratchett's latest book came out this week, and I've yet to procure a copy. This travesty cannot be allowed to continue much longer.
So, to recap:
8DDDD!!!

Sure, you'll get a pic at some point, I imagine. As long as there is a decent one of me! I absolutely loathe people taking pictures of me.
