You guys.

the discreet pleasures of rejection by [livejournal.com profile] pidgeoned.
Summary: Charles attempts to finish his third book while living in seclusion. Erik is his reluctant companion.

If you read nothing else Charles/Erik, allow me to sway you to give this a try. The slow exploration of love and what it means and how one might come to be in it; the poignancy, the complexity, the almost ridiculously skillful use of language, the flow, the sheer amount of feeling. This-- I am in awe of it.

I am so late for bed it's stupid, but this story, I couldn't not finish it once I'd started. The premise is something I love; possibly my favourite part of Love Actually. And to have it explored so masterfully, with those two characters that really don't mesh and then suddenly they do--

Okay. No more words, because words no longer work right now, and they do not do this wonderful story justice. Bed. But seriously. This story has not so much blown me away as left me gently floating in admiration. Stunning work. Colour me impressed.
