Hah, I must be well weird then -- I've done that route before myself! :D I assure you, I was completely aimless in my wandering, and much like John, my head was in a bit (a lot) of a mess at the time, so I've no idea how I managed to do that particular meander myself! But there you are.

I've changed it to Hyde Park -- I've not specified where exactly, it might be the bottom end by Hyde Park Corner, along Upper Brook Street and down along the A4, crossing Regent Street; then he'd be able to hear the chime at 3am. I'd have loved to have him walk through the park, but at that hour it'd be locked up, wouldn't it?

ETA: Listen, okay, forget all that stuff I just said. While true, in the interest of accuracy and not twisting people's brains into strange contortions, I've changed it to this: At one point he looks up to see Westminster Abbey, at another The National Gallery. At some point he walks past St James Park, hears Big Ben tolling three times in the distance. Some time later, he reaches Covent Garden... I think this is more straightforward, and easier to follow? The route is cleaner, and you can see where he decides to give up and just go home. I think this works out nicely; what do you say?
