What a beautiful story! Of all the gut-wrenching lines, this one - "Sherlock looks wrecked; his normally pale skin is pallid, like all the blood has drained from his face." got me right in the heart. I have no idea why that one in particular; I think the image in my head made it seem like Sherlock had been crying, or close to it.
