Huh. I guess that makes a lot of sense. I've started having more and more trouble recently with writing them. They either pour out of me (when I've got the mood of the story down) or they're a pain in the arse when I have to think them up. I reckon you're right, it's a good sign that I'm thinking more and more about how things sound and work, rather than just having them fuck mechanically.
"Knuckle down" was what my old English teacher/ housemistress used to say when I was having trouble finishing an assignment -- "Just knuckle down and write it up!" I neve thought about how weird that sounded until you pointed it out. :D
