How is it that cake is making me sick, what is my life

Two cakes I've just made. They are double chocolate -- a chocolate sponge with dark chocolate frosting and a white chocolate decoration. I feel faintly sick just from being in their presense. The first fucker didn't rise (crap knows why); I'm currently crossing all my fingers and toes that the second one does (Update: IT HASN'T. WHAT. THE. FUCK. IT'S THE SAME RECIPE AS LAST BLOODY YEAR. >:/)

This is me, sprawled over the sofa, near death from exhaustion and being one cranky, unhappy bunny.

It's -10 degrees outside, and the frosting that I set out to chill on the balcony has, in fact, frozen. Which, for some bizarre reason, my knackered brain finds hilarious.

It's my sister's birthday tomorrow, hence the cakes. She loves this recipe so much that she's been having the same cake for three years straight now, despite my best efforts at plying her with a three-tiered vanilla cake with tiramisu ganache. (I'm itching for an excuse to try that one out.)

In some better/more successful news -- my Arthur/Eames exchange is finished and handed in at last! Now, if only that Boxing Day Sherlock/John fic will stop bloody wiggling and let me finish it, too, god damn it! D: I'm having trouble with the sex scene. The sex scene. The one thing I never have trouble with. I think it might have gotten a little personal (in a wish fulfilment sort of way) and I've lost my objectivity. I plan to do nothing but knuckle down and finish it tomorrow.

I still owe two more drabbles to prettypriestess -- well. I say owe; it's more like I want to write this so much OMG what is this even.

I can't even get excited that England are ahead in The Ashes. I've had enough of today. Going to bed now. A more cheerful entry tomorrow (I hope).

having problems writing sex scenes is an excellent sign. it shows that you're not just writing some mechanical this goes there scene. what with fanfics having so much sex in them, it's extremely easy to write something generic, so it can be one of the hardest scenes! 'knuckle down?' um.

Bb, at least you know how to bake a cake - last month, our fabulously gay french teach told us to write out instructions for making le gateau chocolat (insert sparkles here). I stared blankly at the page for an hour before deciding it's a cake, right? So it needs... eggs? And flour? I think? >_>;; le sigh.
