I gotta say, this is what John is like in my head. All sweetness and wholesomeness on the outside, all wicked, delightful naughtiness on the inside! He's still John in all the ways that matter, but for me he's not at all a passive party in this relationship (be it friendship, bromance, or slash)!
The deep grip this larger-than-life love holds over my cynical self is surprising in it's complexity -- I hear you. I like to think that I'm a realist in RL (which, yes, would translate into being a bit of a cynic), but I, too, am astonished by how deeply I need this, their relationship to work.
I've never been one for co-dependency, but with these two it's as if it's the most romantic thing in the world. I suspect wordstrings' influence in this matter.
