There was a time when I was obsessed with the book (I still am, I guess). I own five copies of it, all different versions, and I re-read it every so often. And don't even get me started on the mini series! OH GOD, STEVE COMING OUT OF THE LAKE IN NOTHING BUT A SEE-THROUGH SHIRT NNNNNNGH. I have seen it so many times, I own the 25 years commemorative DVD edition, I even adore the extras -- there is an interview with the director that is priceless.
The 2005 film -- I was prepared to hate it, because it's the big blown-up Hollywood version, but much to my surprise, I LOVED it. Saw it for the first time in a cinema in Oxford, and the last ten minutes I spent crying into my hankie, sap that I am. There are certain parts of it that I treasure, that are a stroke of genius -- that's when my adoring relationship with Joe Wright started. Everything that man touches turns to gold, I love him. Have you ever watched the DVD commentary? It is amazing, I love it so much.

So yeah -- total comfort film for me, too! <333
