Snowflake Challenge -- Day Six
Jan. 6th, 2012 07:25 pmNo, you didn't miss a post -- I will be doing Day Five in a little bit, because it is connected with something that is (as some of you have been told of in detail), as I type, in the oven. :D
Anyway, so as not to spam you too much, let's do Day Six now.
Day 6
In your own space, rec at least 3 fanworks you thought you wouldn't like (because they weren't your fandom or they pushed against your boundaries or you thought you just wouldn't be interested) and that you ended up loving.

--This is in the Generation Kill fandom (Nate Fick/Brad Colbert), which, I haven't even seen the series, let alone read any fics. But someone (fucked if I know who) recced this to me, and my god, it is incredible. Allll the achy pining bb!boys and High School misunderstandings. Delicious. Never thought I'd like it at all, had to Google the characters, but it proved me wrong, and taught me that anything can be incredible if the writing is this fucking good.

--This is Star Trek Reboot (Kirk/Spock). Likewise, I'm not really in the fandom (although I do enjoy reading fics about the characters), but this, GOD, uproariously hilarious and still aching and tender. Really love this story.

--This is a case of trusting the author without reservation. Harry Potter (Snape/Harry), this story basically sent me off on a mad trawl through any and all comms for more stories. Be warned, it doesn't pull its punches, but jesus, I would read the bloody phone book if
femmequixotic wrote it, basically. This story is one of the most abiding and memorable fanfics that I have ever come across. Simply put, magnificent.
