Most important things first: the h50_exchange story is done!! \0/ \0/ Just got it back from SuperBeta, and she says just a few minor clean-up-type things, so. Yay! Mind you, I'm still apprehensive about the cop!Erik AU reaction. Gah, I have to stop doing that to myself. D:

Speaking of, I decided that MICHAEL'S FACE would be a good thing to watch all yesterday evening. And so I rewatched Basterds and 300, where he is FUCKINF FABULOUS. And er. I... cried. To 300. AGAIN. JFC, BRAIN. I know it's made for a target audience of 12 year old boys, okay, I DO. But just akjgkfjgfkjg STELIOS. *_______* YOU HAVE THE RIGHT OF IT, JAMES, LOVE. It kind of helps that I am rather partial to Gerard Butler, with that face and that accent and that fjghfjsgh EVERYTHING.

Also now searches for Michael Fassbender on Google Images throw up James McAvoy as well. YOU TWO, WHAT EVEN ARE YOU. :D :D :D AND ALSO I CANNOT STOP STARING AT MICHAEL'S FACE. JESUS. I now have an inkling why I always found Azazeal SO FUCKING SEXY in HEX.

Er. I had... other things to say, before I got distracted by HIS FACE, CHRIST. The rest of him isn't too bad, either. ;P

Oh, yes. No hot water this morning, so no shower, and therefore no proper waking up. My head's still a bit fuzzy, but it's getting better. Cannot bloody type, my nails have got too long again. First order of the day is to CUT THEM THE FUCK DOWN. D: And work out my next project. I spent Friday coming up with a bajillion ideas for the X-Pride sequel (aka the XMFC/P&P debacle that hijacked my brain a couple months back. Zarah5 coined the X-Pride thing, AND NOW I CAN'T CALL IT ANYTHING ELSE). There is much Regency-style domesticity and Getting To Know Each Other and Falling In Love Properly and Learning To Live With Each Other and awkwardness and Being Married and Husbandddddssss. And there is also a cello. YOU'LL SEE. I think my brain exploded from sheer GUH when I thought THAT one up. :D :D /tease

Also there is this story where Erik Doesn't Like People (shocking, I know), and the only thing he tolerates is his cat, Ferrum. And then Ferrum gets out somehow one day, and ends up being found by a certain floppy-haired, blue-eyed Professor (who can kind of talk to animals. Mentally). IDK whether to make it with or without powers yet. This basically started out as a prompt on the 1stclass_kink meme and evolved into-- well, this. I'm thinking it's going to be a bit of fluffy light relief after the angst of the cop!Erik AU. It could also be referred to as The one where Erik is taciturn and grouchy but kind of falls for Charles hard and tries to be Nice to him even though he has no idea how to do that. It--doesn't go well, at first, but he's a quick study.

On the H50 front, I have the three yca_auction stories to write, so I'm not short on ideas yet. I have one kind of drafted and started, then I have the one where Steve and Danny are Fake Husbands for the sake of their separate businesses (I am seriously looking forward to tackling that one! :D) The third one I haven't really thought about yet. And then I have whatever insane thing blindsides me at two in the morning. WHICH I KNOW WILL HAPPEN, OKAY. >.>;;

I have recently realised that I can write something in two different fandoms at once -- it's kind of a way to, IDK, take a break from one with the other? Sort of. To take a break, I've been reading a rare paring (Mycroft/Lestrade) in the Sherlock fandom in the past couple of days -- I can basically place the blame for that on [livejournal.com profile] stardust_made and this INCREDIBLE story arc by sheffiesharpe in equal measures. This series, though. MY HEART. I am hugely impressed by the sheer quality of writing in it, and the masterful storytelling. It could almost be original fic, if you desregard the BBC Sherlock references. The depth of characterisation is simply staggering for a pairing that has about 160 stories on AO3. I actually find it jarring to read other Mystrade stories now, because I keep expecting them to be this good, and not many are -- not to mention that each universe is unique, and so Lestrade isn't the French-cuisine-cooking, karaoke-singing, The Clash-obsessed former punk with a heart of gold, and there certainly isn't his family in New York, which is almost the best part about this particual arc. Almost, but not quite. Because the way that Mycroft and Lestrade find their way to being together is just breathtakingly beautiful. IDEK, this story arc just speaks to me.

Aaaaanyway. Ahem. Sorry about that, got a bit carried away there. >.>;; Here, have a pretty:

David Hockney, 2010 ‘Untitled’ created using an iPad and the Brushes app

And another: check this out, seriously. It's Jizzy doing spoken poetry, and Jesus, that girl, I honestly don't even know how she's real some days. :')

And finally, a meme! Which I know everyone and their cat has seen all over the place, BUT I saw [livejournal.com profile] perspi doing it and I COULD NOT RESIST, OKAY. /0\

Directions:

1. Reply to this post with 'hot cocoa', and I will pick five of your icons.
2. Make a post (including the meme info) and talk about the icons I chose.
3. Other people can then comment to you and make their own posts.
4. This will create a never-ending cycle of icon glee. TELL ME ABOUT YOUR ICONSES.

Well. Obviously this is John Watson, and a play on Sherlock's canon fascination/obsession with bees -- as we all know, he wanted to retire to Sussex and keep bees before Rheinbach, and since I am a die-hard romantic, THIS IS STILL WHAT HAPPENS LALALA RHEINBACH YOU CAN SUCK BRICKS. D: EXCEPT WITH JOHN AT HIS SIDE AND IN HIS BED. But anyway. This also, for me, refers to Sherlock's fascination with one John Watson, who is so, so many things that Sherlock could spend a lifetime never figuring him out completely. Because while he may be one thing, he is most certainly another, too, and so forth. BASICALLY SHERLOCK LOVES HIS JOHN. THE END. And that jumper was just asking for it, okay. >.>

This, as many of you will know, is an [livejournal.com profile] iconomicon icon. There's just something about the blue of the rain and the implied gloom that just contrasts so beautifully with the red heart. To me this is an ordinary commuter, stuck in the rain, thinking about going home and snuggling with his husband/wife, and how much he wants to kiss them right now. There's a reason why it's keyed as "You are in my heart". When I use it, it means I <3 something/someone so completely that nothing can take that feeling away. I, as some of you may know, firmly believe in communicating through icons -- there's just something about the visual, the symbol, that gets me. I did my undergraduate dissertation on Semiotics, and it's a subject that never fails to fascinate.

Er. Doesn't really need much of an explanation, right? IT'S STEVEN FRY. ON QI. He is a fluffy little duckling and no mistake. When I use this it means a) I LOVE THIS, whatever it is, b) I WANT TO SNUGGLE IT/YOU, and c) I am in the mood to get a cup of tea and chat about randomness for hours. <3

It's Maximus the horse!! I completely loved Tangled, it's definitely bumped down a few films to get into my top three favourite Disney animations. When I use this icon I am most likely pissed -- though very, very rarely at the poster, more at the circumstances in the post.

It's Amy! The Girl Who Waited. IDK, could be that she was set up from the beginning to be associated with fairy tales, but something about the actual label, The Girl Who Waited, there's something so tragic about that. When I use this, I am likely feeling a little maudlin, a little lost, a little uncertain, a lot thoughtful. Again, something about that icon that fascinates me, speaks to something inside me, that dark, lost part. But so, so beautiful. So. Beautiful.

OMG Neve, I just read that Mystrade series last week and it's SO GOOD, I love it so much! I really love Rupert Graves as Lestrade and now I'm trying to find more awesome Lestrade fics (any pairing). Do you have any recs?

From: [identity profile] sirona-gs.livejournal.com
OH MY GOD, SO GOOD. *__________* Sadly I haven't been able to find anything on par with that story, not in terms of length and involvement of the pairing; certainly not in terms of how I see the two of them. D: YOU HAVE TO STOP ME WRITING THIS PAIRING. PLEASE, LARIA, OH MY GOD. /0\ I KEEP GETTING IDEAS AND PLOT BUNNIES AND SHIT, AND I WRITE FOR TOO MANY PAIRINGS ALREADY. D: D:

But Neve! We need more Lestrade-love! How can you ask me to tell anyone to stop writing Lestrade anything? D: D: (Also here are some fics that were recced to me; I've just started the first so no idea what it's about; the Sophie series by [livejournal.com profile] morganstuart) There is no such thing as too many pairings. More ideas is never a bad thing! But I can hold your hold and bounce ideas with you if that will make it better? <3333

Wait wait wait, I just watch XMFC this weekend and fell in love with it and have been reading ALL THE CHARLES/ERIK FIC EVER. Two thing: 1. Erik is Azazel from Hex!! I knew he looked familiar but I couldn't place him! 2. YOU WROTE XMFC/P&P CROSSOVER? REGENCY AU? WUT? IN MY EYES NOW!

WELCOME TO THE CLUB, BB!! \0/ \0/ \0/ I have been delighted to drag as many people kicking and screaming into Charles/Erik, because HOW COULD ANYONE NOT SHIP THEM AFTER THAT FILM, HOW, IT DOES NOT COMPUTE. It was so clearly Charles and Erik's tragic love story. I remember seeing the film, coming home, and stalking LJ for ALL THE FIX-IT FIC EVER. Also there are some incredible AUs in it -- I did a rec post a while back, I wonder if you saw it? Well, just in case, here it is! And my P&P crossover is here! ENJOY, BB! <3

Hi!

First of all, please do not worry about the cop!Erik AU. I'm 100% sure that it's gonna be amazing.

Two, I have like zero free time at the moment, but I've grown immediately fond of the Ferrum story, with Erik's failed attempts at charming Charles when I read your post. Please, write it?

Three: yay!!! Lestrade/Mycroft is my favorite pairing in Sherlock!!! I'm so happy you like them!! And that story is simply amazing. I saw there's a new installment, but haven't had time to read it yet and this is kind of killing me! ;)

hajlghfhg I really hope so!

Ferrum kind of took over my heart a bit. Even just thinking about it makes me feel all soft and mushy inside! :D I can pretty much guarantee that that one will get written at some stage. :)

That story!! My god, I've even subscribed to the author's AO3 feed to keep abreast of updates! It is glorious!

HAHAHAHAHA WHY YES I am replying to this post a full week later, what?

Staring at pictures of Fassy all day? Can't hardly blame you for that. ...I've been meaning to rewatch 300 for the Fassy goodness, downloaded it and everything, just haven't had the time. And pffff idk that the target audience is 12 year old boys, they put all those yards and yards of sexy manflesh in there for someone, and I'm pretty sure it's not them.

The picture under "CANNOT"... any idea where that's from? Cuz I kinda need to see it, I think. Fassbender + period piece, it's a weakness, okay!

Picture under "HIS"... GUH, OKAY, THIS IS NOT HELPING WITH MY FASSBENDER ORAL FIXATION THING, A;JSDHGLSJFSFLHAJSGHKJDS. (Still wanna know where that one .gif is from, ashgklsjflk!!)

Re: cop!Erik AU, CALM THY TITS, WOMAN. Everything will be ooooookaaaayyy. *soothes* It's in very capable hands ;) and anyway I'm sure you're beating yourself up overly much. Wish I could give you some solid feedback at this point, but I've only just barely started it, and damn this one's a whopper, ain't it?

KEEP BEING COOL, I KNOW IT'S HARD FOR YOU TO ACTUALLY STOP BEING COOL, BUT EVEN SO. ♥ ♥

WELL HELLO YOU.

300 was insane, seriously. Basically once I saw Fassy THERE WAS NO ONE ELSE ON THE SCREEN FOR ME. Well, apart from Gerard Butler, I kinda fancy him rotten. :D

I've no idea where that pic comes from, BUT I have a sneaky suspicion it might be from that film about Carl Jung that I am eagerly looking forward to! It's meant to be out in November, I think -- Fassy plays Carl Jung, and Viggo Mortensen plays Freud. I AM EXCITE, LET ME TELL YOU. Either that, or it must be one of his old films. HE LOOKS PRETTY DAMN AMAZING EITHER WAY. And even if it isn't from A Dangerous Method, I HAVE A FEELING YOU'RE GOING TO ENJOY IT.

SEE WHAT I MEAN ABOUT NOT BEING ABLE TO STOP STARING AT HIM?? GUH THAT MAN WHAT IS HE EVEN.

KJHGLSJFHGJF I CAN'T HELP IT. D: That's why I'm happy it's you doing the betaing -- at least if you tell me it's okay, it really is! It really is a whopper. You don't even know the half of it yet, if you've just started it. IT IS PRETTY EPIC.

KJHJGHJFDG I WILL TRY. I WILL TAKE LESSONS FROM YOU IF NEEDS BE. ♥

Hahaha, gave in and watched 300 last night. I'd forgotten Fassy has such a big role in the film, it came out before I'd learned to care about him as an actor. But, dude, Stelios is in the running for, like, Number One Spartan Badass after Leonidas himself. Motherfucker was crazy, too... this was a good role for him, he was able to use his shark grin effectively. And omg his epic love affair with Astinos, just as blatant as I remember. Speaking of pretty, Tom Wisdom a;shglkshdklhslkjdf.

A Dangerous Method, yes, I'VE BEEN LOOKING FORWARD TO THAT SO MUCH. I don't think that's where pic is from, though... all the pics I've seen of Jung!Fassy involve a mustache, spectacles, and really slicked-back hair. ...Quick glance through his IMDB profile shows lots of period pieces, IT'S GOING TO TAKE TIME TO GET THROUGH THEM ALL. Am downloading The Devil's Whore as we speak... pretty damn sure that's the wrong period, BUT I DON'T CARE I WANT IT.

Date: 2011-10-11 09:43 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] sirona-gs.livejournal.com
HE IS THE MOST BADASS SPARTAN WHO EVER FOUGHT ALONGSIDE LEONIDAS. ALSO THE MADDEST EVER. LEONIDAS ISN'T EVEN IN THE RUNNING ON THAT ONE. :D Definitely the most perfect role for him! :D AND HIS EPIC LOVE WITH ASTINOS. I am starting to wonder whether Fassy can even play opposite his male leads without re-enacting the greatest love story of all time in every single film. :D :D I WAS SO SAD WHEN HE DIED. I CRIED. TRUFAX. THERE WAS SNOT, IT WAS EMBARRASSING.

SO LOOKING FORWARD TO A DANGEROUS METHOD, YOU'VE NO IDEA. *_________* JUNG/FREUD 4EVA!! XD

Ooooh, do let me know what that one was like! I have Jane Eyre downloaded, but I haven't let myself watch it yet for fear that it would set me off on the X-Pride sequel and all the other stories I had to write/ was writing would go to hell. BUT NOW I HAVE FINISHED THEM, AND I CAN LET MYSELF WATCH IT AND BASK. Empire said that Fassy was magnetic in that, perfectly cast as the smouldering, highly sexual Rochester. And went on to say that, and I quote, Opposite stews Michael Fassbender: smile askew, eyes aflame, hair afopping, and tunic Byronically agape. Few of today’s leading men possess the carnal charisma of this Irish Method rogue. There is something untamed about him, as if he might rip off his breeches and howl at the moon — making him a peculiar choice as Rochester. NNNNNGGGHHHHH. IF I START WATCHING THAT, I MAY HAVE TO DECLARE MYSELF OUT OF BOUNDS/USELESS FOR THE DAY, GOOD GOD.
