Last week the BBC Sound of 2012 winner was announced, and, okay, I do this every year, but I gave a listen to the other artists that made the Sound of 2012 Top Ten. And I have recs.

All of these songs, I think I wore out the YouTube clips listening to them over and over again, so I thought, hey, I got music lovers on my flist, LET'S GIVE THEM SOME GOODIES. <3

First up, the ones that didn't make the Top Five. My favourite of which was Ren Harvieu. This girl's voice is phenomenal. <3 I have listened to two songs of hers that I adored, of which Forever in Blue about, let's see, 13 times in a row. Er. >.>;; Both are spectacular. <3 I cannot wait for her album to be out. So astonishingly beautiful. <3

Next, we head to Jamie N. Commons, who, jesus fucking christ, his voice. Leaves me in a puddle of guh. Can you even believe he's twenty-two years old?? WOW. The Beeb describes his voice as 'whiskey and nicotine soaked growl', which, pretty damn apt. Is it me, or does this seem a very Loki song? :D?

After that we have Spector, who are, god, I love this kind of music, a bit melancholic, nostalgic, very Pulp, whom I adore. <3 Ung, I LOVE THAT SONG. SO MUCH. *curls up and purrs*

Next up, Friends. Sound very hippie on paper -- all of them workers at a vegan restaurant, forced to cohabitate for two weeks, which resulted in this song. Old-school, very nostalgic, I thought. <3

We're gonna finish off this round with Frank Ocean. Strangely enough, out of all the Top Five artists in the list, the rest didn't make as big an impression as this guy. Not to say that they aren't awesome, and you should check them out, but this song, there's something about it. The lyrics are fantastic, so evocative -- I mean, how can you go wrong with "Fuck me good/fuck me long/fuck me numb"? Nice.

The winner of Sound of 2012 is Michael Kiwanuka, who is quite amazing, really. So lyrical, so soft and, well, no other word for it -- kind. Lovely. Here he is, with a fantastic performance of Tell Me A Tale on Later... with Jools Holland.
