Listening to

somehowunbroken's Clint mix, I'm in a New York state of mind, and I want to write that singer!Clint thing I got going so fucking bad I'm aching with it. :((( Happily, today is supposed to be my last shift for a few days (we'll see what happens), so I ought to have the rest of the week off. Once I've slept properly, and not so fucking stressed out I'm practically vibrating, I might be able to get somewhere at last. All the stories I got going are clamouring right now -- that one, X-Pride II, the Love Actually AU. PLEASE, BRAIN, GIVE ME A BREAK ALREADY. :(

Still feeling rather weary of spirit. Ugh, stupid hormones. :((( Doesn't help that half of what was supposed to be my day off was spent wrangling deliveries and filling in documents and mostly not resting at all. DX

On the plus side, bought myself a cute wee 4GB mp3 player, and have stuffed it full of fanmixes and podficks and the like! \0/ \0/ Now I can carry fandom's awesomeness everywhere with me!! <3333 Rather pleased with that purchase! :) It's been ages since I've had an mp3 player -- mostly used my phone for music and stuff, but it's crammed full of crap right now and I just don't have the energy to tackle it. This was really the perfect solution! :D And it's so easy to use! I'm impressed! :D

Words are still being an utter bitch and extremely uncooperative. Thank god for

foxxcub and the snippets she keeps sending me from her bb!Steve/bb!Tony verse, which, my endorphine levels spike every time I see a new email in my inbox. <333 Teenage bb boys in loooooove!! ♥________♥ She knows me so well. :')

Right, okay, time for tea and a blanket and watching something disgustingly fluffy. Look, it's all VH1's fault. It's making me think back to that year, making me all mushy and nostalgic and sappy, but just, I remember those songs, remember singing along, fuck, I know all the words, every one. I remember being infatuated, all hopeful, a little yearning, and even if it has nothing to do with the way I'm feeling at the moment (except for where boys in love are concerned), I just want to remember that time, with a fond, wistful smile.

Do you guys remember where you were when those songs came out? What you were doing? Do these songs make you feel sad? Happy? Nostalgic? Anyway, enjoy some sappy 90s music! :D

So The Mercury Prize 2011 is happening tonight in London, and when I got into work I found the BBC News article, which I'd missed yesterday when it was published. And so I had a nosey through the nominees, recognising a few familiar names and fistpumping when I realised that Katy B's On a Mission is nominated. You may remember me flailing about her single Katy On a Mission, which is one of the best club(bing) songs I've heard this year. So yay and good luck, Katie!!

But then, among all those interesting artists, there's also this guy that I'd never heard of before. His name is James Blake, and he is the most exciting thing I have heard in ages. His music is strange, haunting, bizarre, complex, experimental, a bit weird, and I am completely in love with it. There is something irresistibly compelling about it, and as soon as I got hold of the (self-titled) album, I could not stop listening to it.

Here, have a go. I am quite awed by him and his talent and his sound.

Summary: It's all his damned knee's fault. If it wasn't for his body's betrayal, no one would have found out about the fight club, or about his dad practically leaving them to fend for themselves after their mother's death. And they certainly wouldn't have sent the four of them kids to Hawai'i, to live with their aunt and uncle. Although, Danny has to admit that the class president offers a not-so-small consolation... A.k.a. Danny gets sent to Hawai'i to finish high school, and meets the gang, and kind of falls in love.

At its heart this is a High School AU where the boys meet pretty much 16 years before the events of the series, and follows their relationship up to 1.08 -- although due to the nature of the story, it is AU throughout as it allows for the fact that the two of them know each other. It follows canon as much as possible, although I admit to fibbing Mrs McGarrett's time and date of death to suit the story. This story would honestly not exist if it wasn't for

zolac_no_miko. She talked me off ledges, researched and explained all things Hawai'i like a superhero for me, and practically glued this story together with her enthusiasm and support, for which I am pathetically grateful. Tired. Discouraged. Mentally exhausted. Work may yet kill me. I haven't been able to write so much as a word for the past week-odd, and that's taking its toll, too -- I want to write. I am desperate to write. But I'm too tired to make the words work, and I can't, and it's killing me. I am pretty hopeful about the weekend, but if I'm still feeling this exhausted, I may just cry.

First of all, happy birthday, Master Shakespeare! And happy St George's Day to my British flisters! <3 And happy Doctor Who Season 6 day, everyone else! :D

Went to see Limitless last night. [SPOILERS BEYOND THIS POINT] And yeah, okay, I can kinda see it, but, uh, no. That film just did not do anything for me. Apart from a bunch of gigantic plot holes, I just did not find the characters engaging, with the possible exception of Robert de Niro's turn, which is by this point something taken for granted. I did not buy into the set-up at all, either. Frankly, it was a decent way to waste a couple hours, but I doubt I'll be watching it again. [/SPOILERS]

While we're on the subject, read an article in my trusty Empire on the upcoming X-Men: First Class. While I'm not the biggest X-Men fan around, I can already tell it is going to be AN EPIC SLASHFEST, what with young Charles Xavier and Eric Lensherr, a.k.a. Magneto, meeting for the first time and becoming friends, and later enemies. I can smell the fanfic from here! :D

In other news, writing is finally back on track. Am half-way through one of the help_japan stories I owe, and made a start on the other, so I feel better about it already! \0/

IS IT DOCTOR WHO TIME YET, IS IT????? I am going to spend the rest of the day climbing the walls in anticipation! At least I've just found out that Katy B's album has been released already, and I hadn't noticed! Girl has the most amazing song I heard last year, and I've been so looking forward to hearing the rest of the album! ETA: It is awesome!!

Here, for your aural pleasure, is Katy B's Katy on a Mission, which gets my blood pumping in the best possible way! I suspect it's the beyond-brilliant bass line. Not to mention, she is one foxy lady!

Other stuff! My awesome auction winners are AWESOME. Remember the plot bunnies? I get to write both of them, yay! XD And then

fred_bear lobbed me such a curveball, oh my god, I am BURSTING AT THE SEAMS to write this thing, it is starting to EAT MY MIND, holy crap. It keeps growing and growing. I'm really rather pleased with the initial ~~scribbles in the notepad~~ plot outline!

But first I should really write as much as I can of my dissertation before I have to hand it over to my supervisor on Monday, hell. Way to ruin my fun, RL. DX

eames_arthur Exchange reveals are up! I can post my fic now! But maybe I'll do it later, when the initial rush has died down a bit.

Oooh, they're playing TLC. Lord, I miss those ladies! ♥____♥ OH OH SUGABABES!! Anyone noticed how the members of the band have ALL changed like five times by now? I miss the 'Overload' days, that was a hell of a tune.

Well, exams are OVER, and I only have my dissertation to write before I'm done with this course. I'd like to say I'm excited, ecstatic, and/or a bunch of other words starting with 'e', but the truth is I'm more relieved than anything else.

Time to finally focus on ALL THE FICS I owe to various people and fests! I can only hope to entice my muse to behave! I've plenty of 24hr shifts coming up, so's I can get my head down and write during the slow periods -- well, the job should have some perks, right?

I had loads of stuff to say, and rave excitedly about (last night's H50 episode, anyone? SO. MUCH. LOVE. to contain in one post) but I seem to have mislaid my squee. Damnit! DX<
