More help_japan offers
Mar. 17th, 2011 07:19 pmI've made a bunch of other offers at
help_japan. I sort of started checking the Interesting Stuff post (which is full of so much awesome, OMG, how did I not look before?), and I got to thinking -- I actually have a bunch of signed first editions of books at my house! That's what working at The Bookshop did for me, I guess. So I had a nosey, and this is the loot I managed to unearth:
1. A signed first edition copy of The Ring of Words: Tolkien and the Oxford English Dictionary by Peter Gilliver, Jeremy Marshall and Edmund Weiner, OUP (2006). The book is in pristine condition. Link to auction HERE.
2. A beautiful first edition copy of Elegance by Kathleen Tessaro, Harper Collins (2003). The book is in pristine condition, the only wear and tear that of sitting on my bookshelf. It's beautifully made -- the pages are lined in black, it has an inbuilt bookmark, and the cover has a soft pearly sheen. Link to auction HERE.
3. A signed first edition copy of The Book of General Ignorance: A Quite Interesting Book compiled by John Lloyd and John Mitchinson, Faber and Faber (2006). The book is in pristine condition; it's the book containing questions and answers from the British show QI, hosted by Stephen Fry. Link to auction HERE.
4. A signed first edition copy of Paradise Lost: An Illustrated Edition with Introduction by Philip Pullman, OUP (2005). The book is in excellent condition; there's a slight mark on the book jacket, as you can see in the picture. The copy is signed by Philip Pullman. Link to auction HERE.
5. A signed limited first edition copy of Peter Pan in Scarlet: The Official Sequel by Geraldine McCaughrean, OUP (2006). The book is in pristine condition; it's one of only 1500 limited first edition copies signed by the author. Link to auction HERE.
6. I am also donating a year's worth of letters and postcards from Bulgaria, one per month. All will be handwritten, and I'll include as much stuff as possible -- pictures of my city, parks, the flowes on my balcony, anything you want, really. Me and my cousin are planning a two-week long trip around the country this summer, so I'll be able to collect lots of strange and interesting Bulgarian bits and pieces. Link to auction is HERE.
