If someone could please explain to me why I have spent the last THREE AND A HALF HOURS drawing Erik and Charles' Pemberley layout by hand, from scratch, using pencil and ruler and everything, I should be much obliged.
The notes for this thing have hit 1,500 words. JUST THE NOTES. The thing itself is now over 20K and we haven't even gotten our teeth into the main plotline yet.
This story is going to steal my sanity, isn't it.
Anyway, for those that are curious -- (click for bigger version) EDIT: Now amended with my Mad Photoshop Skillz TM (a.k.a. blundering blindly and hoping it'll work). The little squares are the back stairs that I can't fit in properly. Disclaimer: I REALLY DON'T KNOW WHAT I'M DOING. Any architects out there, I apologise in advance. It was insanely helpful in getting my head straight, though.

I map out routes that people take, I look up prices and what time the sun rose and set on particular days and what songs were on the radio and shit like that. I remember getting really pissed off that I couldn't find the average MPG for a car in the 1960s when I was writing No Yesterdays On the Road.
SO FEAR NOT. You're not crazy! Or, if you are, so are the rest of us XD
