I have literally woken up about an hour and a half ago. Back on antibiotics, and my body hates me. Regular sleeping schedule, I miss you so... :(((

Yesterday I got really fucking aggravated by a comment I read in the journal of one of my flisters, with regards to the recent LJ changes. I literally had to sit on my hands not to step in and IDK, slap that--person. The gist of it was that they had no idea what all the fuss about the changes was about, they've always used this site as a journal only, and all the fandom-y people had no right to expect LJ to do anything for them, it isn't a fandom site, just something free that these people decided to use, and that person was actually happy that LJ was emptier these days, and that all the fandom-y crap would get moved to DW and Tumblr where it would get lost in the aether. LJ has no obligation to them. And I just found myself wanting to say, wow, must be nice to be so Zen about people around you losing something they have invested so much of their time and emotions into, not to mention actual money. But that's okay, as long as it works for you... UGH. I feel people are just so disconnected from people around them anymore, everyone looking out for themselves, which is fine except for how we have, as the Dalai Lama recently said, lost sight of the basic humanity that binds us all together as a human family. Makes me pretty damn sad. This is just, oh, let's dismiss everyone's distress and unhappiness, because hey, this still works for me! DX<

Anyway. Onto more better things. I am about to spam you with links to fun things! :D Like I spammed [livejournal.com profile] zolac_no_miko last night at 3am... WHAT CAN I SAY, WHEN I DON'T SLEEP, I DON'T SLEEP LIKE A BOSS. I hadn't been on my favourite site (because yes, I am a geek, and guess what -- so are these people, proudly so, and they do everything they can to spread the joy! HOW NOT TO LOVE THEM FOR IT) for far too long, and last night when I was posting JEREMY RENNER AND GEMMA ARTERTON IN LEATHER, I went to take a look. AND OH MY GODDDDD ALLLLL THE SHINY!! *________* And because I love you all, I thought I'd share! AREN'T YOU HAPPY YOU'RE ON MY FLIST? :D :D

Let's start with something I know a lot of you are well excited about: The Hobbit Trailer Breakdown and The Batman Trailer Breakdown. These all go into awesome details, sort of paring out clues from what we're being shown, and they make for some pretty fab reading! :)

Then there are these Movie Recipes, including Francis Ford Coppola's spaghetti sauce from The Godfather that I'm making for my dad, because he's such a huge fan, Julia Child's Boeuf Bourginon, and a recipe for beignets that I am itching to try out.

Then there is Robert Downey Jr: A Viewer's Guide that is all kinds of shiny, and I need to re-watch half the films on it. And with that, we move into Avengers territory! IS ANYONE SURPRISED, I ASK YOU. Okay, this feature BLEW. MY. MIND. Because you're talking to a seriously die-hard Whedon fan, HE IS MY ABSOLUTE HERO, and look, this is why I love Empire so much. Because they get me. Us. They get their fans. They know we're all geeks and nerds to a certain degree, and they know about Joss Whedon, they get what he is. And so they have given us this: How do The Avengers fit into the Whedonverse?, which is THE BEST THING EVER, and drew from me all kinds of embarrassing squeaky noises of delight (not a huge surprise, as it's written by Helen O'Hara, whom I adore -- she is this incredibly awesome film journalist who also has a Law degree and appears to have the same taste in movies and TV shows as me, and just, she is my internet girlfriend. *_______*). WAIT TILL YOU GET TO THOR. In fact, they are all awesomesauce in one way or another. <3<3<3

And last, to cap off this edition of The Shiny, have some eye candy. I am sad that there is no Phil BAMF Coulson, or Pepper shots, but oh well, I'll take what I can get.

But for me, the real winner of the piece is Helen's (yep, her again <3 Just one more reason I am helplessly infatuated with her) poll that goes with the banners, which I shall recreate here for the benefit of humanity (the Fury thing made me snort tea, trufax. As did the Thor thing :D):

[Poll #1805098]

And now to finish my [livejournal.com profile] secret_mutant story and the last read-over of cop!Erik AU. I CAN'T BELIEVE I'M GETTING SO CLOSE TO POSTING IT. It hardly seems real. :')

The funny thing? I had no idea what all the fuss was about over the new comment things. Mine is exactly the same as it's always been, and I was just kind of sitting here going 'WHAT'S GOING OOOON?"

Also. I JUST SAW THE HOBBIT TRAILER LAST NIGHT OHMYGOOOD. I literally like. Shouted for joy. I couldn't leap up, and run around because of the broken toe, but I wanted to.

I am so excited for that.

That person (re: the comments on LJ) is just dumb. Even if you just use it as a blog, basically every other blogging system has navigable comments. If you don't care what people have to say on your LJ, then write it in a freaking Word doc and be done with it. Sure, fandom's complaining a lot about the changes because it affects what we do, but this is a bad idea for EVERYONE. Not all the outrage is from fandom--it's giving a lot of "normal" people a tough time as well, and the way it was implemented kind of underhandedly is sketch regardless of why you use LJ. While they do have a point about fandom's tendency to take over already existing services for their own purposes and then freak out when change is made that disrupts fandom's way of things (see: Delicious), their argument holds no water.

(Although I do think a fandom conversation needs to be had about the way we use services and how the focus should shift into creating more of our own, ala AO3 and even Dreamwidth, though I don't use that service for many reasons.)

Thank you for all these links! And it has to be Hemsworth - his hair is THING OF MAGIC no matter what it does, it's insane. I feel bad that I don't really like RDJ's pic but the PHOTOSHOPPING IS TERRIBLE, WHY IS HIS HEAD SIZE WEIRD

And I am happy to say that I've seen everything on that RDJ list except Tropic Thunder, because I really don't like Ben Stiller movies and I got mixed reactions when I asked my friends if they liked it so I have to work up to it /o\

Also TONY IS SPIKE. Of course he is, OF COURSE HE IS. This is why I'm not too worried how Tony's gonna come out - he's the kinda character I like best from Whedon anyway, so. Yeah. STILL SO EXCITED.

also this may come across as weird but I love seeing your posts on my flist now - they're always so enthusiastic and flailing that even if I don't really care about it still makes me smile :D
