So [livejournal.com profile] kitsune_tsuki posted this pic:

AMD IMMEDIATELY ALL I COULD THINK OF WAS STEVE AND DANNY SNUGGLING AND BEING IN LOOOOOVE. WHAT HAS THIS SHOW DONE TO ME, WHAT. D:

In other news, spent most of yesterday squeeing over Inception fic and planning my next three tattoos. Before you go O____O WHAT, they're all snippets of text I want to get done. One of them I've been thinking about for a long time, but yesterday I finally got to reading [livejournal.com profile] weatherfront's latest, and the message just kind of slammed into me all over again, and suddenly I had my words. I want "life is in the small things" on the inside of my left arm, near the wrist. Then I want a quote from Neil Gaiman on my right ankle, "fragile things can prove remarkably difficult to kill". Because they are, and I need the reminder to NOT BE AFRAID ALL THE TIME, like I am -- of failure, of getting my heart ripped to pieces, of things not working out, of taking a leap. And then I want the first three lines from the most inspiring poem on writing I have ever read, "So you want to be a writer?" by Charles Bukowski. I know I keep going on about him and it, but seriously, I've never seen/heard/read something on the process of writing that resonated so completely with me. They're "if it doesn't come bursting out of you/ in spite of everything,/ don't do it.", and I want them on the inside of my right arm, running up it, not across.

Here's the thing. I'm a little concerned about having the ones on my wrists done, because they would always be visible, no matter what -- I always wear long-sleeved tops with my sleeves rolled up, no matter the time of year/ what the top is, shirt, sweater, whatever. So I keep thinking whether that might influence my employment options in the future. But I've thought and thought about it, and honestly, if I was to get them done, I only want them in those places. I've also thought about getting custom-made leather wrist sheaths that button/zip over the tattoos so they're not visible. Thoughts? They're not going to be huge chunks of black ink, just thin-ish lines in a certain font (small caps Antigua).

And quite apart from that, I still want Errol (sorry, tiny image) on my right shoulder, tail curled around the letter N, for baby Nicky. But this one is colour, much bigger and more complicated than the lines of text, and so it will require a bigger time investment.

Actually, just found out I didn't end up getting that job I was talking about at the start of the week. Via text message. No, I'm not bitter, why do you ask? SO FUCK IT. I might just go get those text lines done this weekend. I'm so tired of this shit. /sigh/ I wish for once something would fucking go my way. I keep telling myself that if it hasn't happened, obviously it wasn't right for me, and I'm waiting for something else to come along (it's happened to me far too many times before to discount it as just random reassurance), but right now? I just want to punch someone in the face. :/

I was going to use my happy!Steve icon for this post, but see re: punching someone inna face. Possibly not the best news to get in the middle of a morning shift with not much sleep the previous night. Deep breaths, Neve.

Sorry to hear about the job (for selfish reasons, too).:/ And I'd want to punch someone in the face if I got a text msg with that kind of news, too. Since when has it become legit to text people things that officially really matter, i.e.: 'You got the job.', 'You didn't get the job.', 'I'm breaking up with you.'? (The last happened to someone I know--I thought she was joking when she told me.)

I am sure a better job will come up.x You don't want to work for people who have so little respect for other people's feelings that they wouldn't bother to call them or at least send them a normal letter/email.

And on a lighter note, the power of slash is mighty--I saw the picture and my first thought was "OMG, let's see who is Sherlock and who is John!" :)

That pic is just lovely!

WOW. That is quite a lot you want to get tattooed on you... says the woman with her whole leg and back inked. *snort*

I have a Japanese tattoo on my (whole) right underarm and I'm working in an office. It's hard to tell if a further boss will allow it - but usually it shouldn't be a problem anymore.

I love quotes to pieces, but I was always too chickenshit to get one, cause the font should be a little bit bigger. You have to remember that your body is changing and the tattoo will change too. *ggg*

Hopefully you'll show us the final result?!! *hinthinthint*

HAPPY WEEKEND, SWEETIE!!!

Boo, sorry about the job. That's some shitty news to receive via text message!

I love the lines you chose for your ink! I guess it depends on the employer whether or not the visible ones are going to be a problem, but honestly? I don't think that snippets of text in such a delicate font should give you much trouble, unless you're work in a bank a similar environment. *ponders*

Ugh, job things D:.

Re: tattoos, I get what you're saying about the arm ones. I wanted my second done on my arm for the longest time, and then I lost my job, and I thought 'what if I had it and people shunned me in interviews because I have a visible tat?' Because I work in marketing and I am dealing with clients. I changed my mind and found another idea for a placement that I really love, in the end. Now I've been saving money to get it done and I should be able to soon, I am so so excited about it :3.

My first reaction to that picture:

OMGOOOOOOOD.

Yes, really, that.

Also, obviously that Steve/Danny fics needs to be written, yesterday.

Re: tattoos. I'm actually getting one myself on the inside of my wrist (hopefully this year, I'm still thinking a bit about the design). I was also a bit hesitant to get one on my wrist for the same reasons but then I figured "this is the 21st century, and I'd rather have a meaningful tattoo on my wrist than a tramp stamp over my ass."

SO I SAY GO FOR IT, BB.

Any job that sends you a text message to inform you that you are not being hired is a job you do not need. Consider this a lucky escape. Because that shit is ridiculous. Keep your chin up, sweetie, and read some healing porn. Alex would want you to.

Also, those owls are adorable.

Aww, those owls. I just keep looking at the pic and grinning like an idiot. :3

Text message? What the hell.

Tattoos are always tricky when you're looking for a job, you never know how employers may react to them. My tattoo is in a hidden place (under the nape of my neck), so that's not a problem, but I guess it's different with visible ones.

I'm sorry about the job.

And about the owls...you aren't the only one. I saw it and said "Steve and Danny!" too.

OWLS ARE LOVE! I have a ridiculous adoration for owls.

Sorry about the job. But the tats, yeah, I've seen it effect job interviewing here. I'm in zumba class with a girl who has both arms completely "sleeved" and I heard her talking about how she couldn't get a good interview. Dunno if she was covering them up or not.

I've sorta wanted a second tat - I have one on my lower back - but I've always kinda wanted something small on my shoulder. I doubt I'll ever cowgirl up and get one though.

So sorry about the job, bb. *hugs* I hope things pick up for you in the future.

Re: tattoos, whatever you decide to go with for your placement, I really like the ideas you have planned. I've got a scarlet pimpernel on my left shoulder, and I really want to get more at some point.

THAT OWL PICTURE, OMG. Funny thing is, on my Tumblr I've been reblogging TONS of owl pictures, because they remind me of Rodney McKay/McShep. But I can obviously see the Steve/Danny adorableness as well. :DDD

Leaving a text message is a rather gutless way of telling someone bad news. You're well rid of them--who wants to work for such classless people?

I think the first step in getting a tattoo is knowing what you want, so you're already halfway there :):)

Er, hi! Delurking to talk tats!

It does depend on the employer, but I think things are getting better with regards to that now that tattoos are more mainstream. I have one just below my neck on my back, and it's partially visible with most of the tops I wear. I plan on getting more; wrist tattoos also, but two different circular eternity symbols instead of delicate text. Although, my wrists also have visible self-inflicted scars, so I decided it didn't matter if I got the tattoos there since I already have marked myself there. I also think that if an employer rejects you because of tattoos, then they're probably not someone I want to work for.

Wow, text message? That's a sucky way to tell you.

TEXT MESSAGE? Sorry, that is BALLS. No doubt about that. :/

The tattoo thing, that is really exciting though. I keep hemming and hawing about my next tattoo because it is word-related. I would say from experience, maybe choose your quotes, write them down on a piece of paper and stick them on your mirror or something. Something where you'll see them every day and have to think about them. I carried around my first tattoo design in my purse for about nine months before I got it done, and it really helped to solidify it in my mind, and make sure that I wasn't going to get sick of it before I got it done.

I'm so sorry you didn't get the job, love! D:

I didn't know you have ink. What tattoo/s have you already got?
